So I always feel bad for the older cashiers at Walmart that try to be funny, and make lame jokes. They are lonely people who need friends, so when they make a joke I laugh back and make small conversation. Tonight as I was checking out and the cashier was being nice, and when I handed her my check she looked at my name and tried pronouncing it. This is how the conversation goes:
(Cashier): Tam....
(Me): Tameka
(Cashier): Well thats a pretty name!
(Me): Well thank you.
(Cashier): You know what you should do...
Customer walking up behind me
(Cashier): This lady told me one time that you can go on the internet somewhere and there is a place that will tell you how many people have you same name.
(Me): Really?
(Cashier): Yeah, this lady only had 9 other people with the same name!
(Me): Well my name is actually a common black name, but everyone spells it differently.
(Cashier and Customer): Laughing
(Me): I actually watched a WNBA game one time with three Tameka's playing but they were all spelled differently.
(Cashier and Customer): Laughing
(Customer): Well I know the prettiest little girl, her name is Tameka Parish.
(Me): Oh really
(Customer): Yeah, she is just so cute.
(Me): grabbing bag OH, well you two have a good evening!
What was I supposed to say to that...obviously she didn't really know me. Or maybe I was just having a bad day, I did just get off of work. My prettyness must have been off!

That's an awesome story. I'm giggling out loud, all by myself. Apparently the customer knew who you were, because she was right-- you are the prettiest little girl!
That is pretty funny. The cashiers at Wally World are pretty lonely (and crazy!). I hate it though when they comment on every thing that you buy. It's really none of their business! :)
You should start wearing a name tag,
"Tameka Parish
Pretty girl"
Just for situations like this!
So did you ever look at the customer to find out who she was? Or was your back to her the entire time?
No I have seen the customer before but I don't know her
